Welcome to SELEXIR; the result of our very personal journey towards peaceful skin.

My name is Elena, and in my early twenties I suddenly developed an extreme dry skin condition which made my skin flaky, red, swollen and itchy on my face, neck and arms. Suffering from this, I began a difficult journey of self-help with conventional therapy and then, due to the side effects and lack of success, I tried a number of alternate methods.

I felt disheartened when, after trying so many different creams, still nothing worked for my skin, which was permanently irritated, inflamed and itchy. So I decided to take my skin health into my own hands and began to investigate the realm of alternative solutions by dedicating myself to the study of natural ingredients.

Inspired by what I learnt about the specific soothing benefits of nature's bearings, I began mixing natural ingredients together in my own makeshift bathroom laboratory. I thought: "If I want to care for my skin effectively, I'm going to have to do it myself." It was important to me to use natural ingredients, to avoid putting harsh chemicals on my very sensitive skin.

After a couple of years of experimentation, I had a breakthrough: a balm that I had developed using 21 natural ingredients had an amazing effect on my skin. Finally I had my skin back! The news of my results travelled fast around my friends and relatives, many of whom asked for my balm to help care for their own skin troubles; after all, they could see my results for themselves.

It was difficult to produce the balm on a scale beyond my personal use, so I joined hands with my best friend Mirella, who had a cosmetics background working with a multinational cosmetic company, to organize a modest production for friends and family through a small laboratory.

The results and feedback were outstanding and, knowing the positive effect we could have on people with unhappy skin, we really wanted to take our skincare products to the global beauty market to provide a truly effective cosmetic skincare for all forms of extreme dry and irritated skin (see our dermatological test results).

So after several years of successful informal balm production, we shook hands and set up our company in Switzerland - and our skincare brand SELEXIR was born.

We decided to retain all of the original 21 natural ingredients, as the formula was so effective. We now work with an amazing Swiss laboratory and our Head of Laboratory, Patrick, told us: "It's rare to be able to formulate a balm that uses this many precious natural ingredients and at these high concentrations." So we are very proud!
