Eczema
Eczema is a skin condition that is typically characterised by inflammation of the top layers of the skin, causing cracks, redness, itching, bleeding, blisters and swelling. The skin is usually most affected on the face and neck and in the elbow or knee crevices.
Eczema can be caused by a number of influences, including: an allergen (exterior or interior), any irritating substance or medication, scratching or severe dryness of the skin, genetic predisposition, psychological and/or physical stress, immunity weakness, free radicals and environmental stress.
Eczema can be categorised into mild, moderate and severe forms. All age groups can be affected by these illnesses, although babies and young children are considered to be the worst affected.
Dry skin
The most common skin condition that people suffer from is dry skin (Xerosis). Although not medically harmful, dry skin is often rather uncomfortable and unpleasant to deal with.
Dry skin can be caused by environmental factors, sun damage, oil glands and diet. It comes in many forms, with more severe cases accompanied by severe itching, red or white patches of skin, cracking, bleeding, severe tightness and pain.
